what would cause the abs light AND brake light to come on? E-brake is not engaged and the switched is open so it's not from the emergency brake circuit. I'm assuming this could just be a sensor but I haven't been driving my truck much because of. I just haven't had time to look at it.
Actually that's not a dumb question....since I haven't LOL! I have noticed that the abs light comes on after the brake light comes on but I can't remember the sequence. I'll have to go attempt to start it and note the way it happens. Batteries are shot so it's a b*tch to start especially now that I need the glow plugs.
I think low or weak batteries can cause electrical system to do weird things. If you replace batteries always buy 2 and try to get manufacture dates as close as possible. Amp rating should be above 875 and up to 1000 is better.
I was wondering about the electrical doing something however once the engine is running and the alternator is outputting 12+ volts shouldnt that issue go away?
Any thoughts on what happens after I check fluid level and it's ok? LOL that sort of stuff is what always happens to me. Haha I can never have an easy fix.
Ok well I win idiot of the year award. The brake fluid was low. Topped off and the lights went out. ::::bangs head against wall::: another stupid question...why would it be low? The brake system is bone dry
Could be the VSS sensor. It's in the top of the rear diff housing. Unplug it and remove the one bolt and the sensor pulls straight out. Clean the end of it and inspect it for any damage like nicks, scratches or dings. Check the plug and the wiring going to it also.
