Where you located? I can take a gander on the craigslist ap im always on...
Since you're younger I imagine you might not be willing to travel as far to find what ya want.
Im in a state where salt is used in the winters...so trucks around me are rusty.
Thats why I am willing to travel to places without rust.. (texas, arizona, etc) typically a lot cleaner truck goes for a lot less down there.
ya i live in iowa so i have the same problem with the salt. and I'm always on craiglist too. i would travel a little ways to find a clean truck but idk about texas.
BuckHammer i would have looked under the front end but i don't have access to the truck its at a local dealer and i found it on line

Search the denver colorado craigslist. It aint a warm state by any means but they dont use salt.. its like some sand thing, so their trucks are rust free(well... less rust I guess?). Not to mention you are closer to Colorado than I am. lol
I got a set of axles and a frame from an 09 for $200-300 plus a day or so of labor....
richard
Your lucky.
I got my front and rear '05+ axles, suspension, and all brackets for $1200 plus about 4 hours labor.
You should be able to install the axles without spending much more money if you use most of the stock parts from the donor truck. Use all the stock brackets, suspension, etc. Probably want to replace brakes, ball joints, sway bar bushings, etc while it's all out of the truck though.

the truck had 80K miles on it....
the trick is I need a spare 4r100 4x4 tranny and a 271 xfercase...
Once I find those then I can think about swapping.
The other complication is that when I bought the truck (just over a year now iirc) I put new tires on it.
So, I have to find a set of wheels and tires in budget too... and then what do I do about the old set? I spend almost $1K on tires after taxes...
Richard
EDT: on top of that, when I do the swap I want to add in a GV OD....
I belive it makes you feel better when you build it up yourself. But you are right, more money, time and frustation. Blood, sweat, tears, beers. Hahaha
