Operator Commanded Regeneration

Looks as though this is an option for '13 and available on XL and XLT models. I wish this was an option on my '11, would be nice to be able to control it instead of a regen coming on two minutes from my driveway. Anyone think this could possibly be available via a cpu upgrade in the future? I would even be happy if the truck dinged at me or if my screen would continue to say "cleaning exhaust filter" until I hit the OK button to acknowledge the regen.

My opinion is Ford will never release OCR for the 2011.
Only available via a 3rd party tool for the C&C 2011's.
They did include this option on the 2012 XL and XLT pickups.
I wish I had it for those days where I end up cancelling two or three.

It is prolly nothing more than setting an input line called regen high with 5V. a momentary on push button would do the job. Wish we could get a diagram of the PCM inputs and voltage levels. Once it is commanded on, it prolly runs on its own and shuts off. Would really love to have this option. Wonder why it is an option on the less expensive XLT models? Wonder if doing it too much will prematurely burnout the DPF. Could even use a upfitter switch to start it.

I had asked Chris Brewer why not when the 6.7 was first being tested. I got a no for an answer.

I had even submitted an issue paper to Ford new ideas about the whole issue.

Makes perfect sense to you and I. They were afraid of non compliance issues with the EPA.

I explained that you put in some fail safes but it went no where.

Ford still has the impression XL and XLT are work trucks (which they usually are) and therefore will spend more time in urban traffic.
Problem is, well off contractors are driving lariats and pulling skid steers so that's not always the case.
It's obviously a computer setting and they simply don't enable it for Lariat and above; silly IMHO.

Does my 2012 King Ranch have that option? I have only had a little while and it only has 1200 miles on it and I have never seen it go into regen. Although I know it has been in regen at least once when I got home because of the smell, but I have never seen it.

From your picture it looks like you have a King Ranch, so from what I can find you don't have it.

(EDIT - I should read your signature!)

There are more xl and xlt's in state owned vehicled thst see just tons of idle time and short runs. Never get a chance for a regen completed. Power company trucks, etc etc. That need a manuel regen function. Do i think it is fair only those trucks get it. I certaintly do not.
I believe everyone should be able to have that option.

I thought it was a menu option on the basic info center somewhere.
Maybe somewhere in the same menu system as resetting the IOLM?
If not I guess that third party tool may still be needed.

Kper05. On a build 2013 it is a $250.00 option.
