Question Start Up

When I start my truck it idles at 1500-2000 rpm until i give it gas and then it comes back down but not after staling once. When I try to restart it it takes usually two tries. And sometimes it stalls when i put it into gear. Can anybody help me?

Any check engine light? Pull the codes first if there is. Heck pull them either way. But it sounds like an IAC problem...try cleaning the throttle body really well and getting the carbon and crud out of it. If that doesn't do it, you are probaly looking at IAC replacement. Hard to tell without codes though.

IAC is Idle Air Control. It is supposed to control the amount of air allowed past the throttle body butterflies at idle.

Here's how to pull the codes (thanks Steve83).
