E4OD shifts in and out?
Dieselzen,
Please send me a copy of the E40D test procedures to: morrisjake2002(No Email Addresses In Posts!) I believe this will help me fix a problem that just started occuring in my 1994 F250 that I just bought 3 weeks ago! Hopefully the tranny doesn't need rebuilt, (my wife will kill me)!
Thanks
Jake

E4OD shifts in and out?
Please send me the zip file explaning the sensors and how to tune them.
It seems that my 1993 Econovan E350 (160000miles 7.3l diesel non turbo) has all the symtoms for a bad or misadjusted FIPL sensor (I think).
But in addition it has problems getting into gear while cold. I have to wait for 20 sec or somthing for it to get into gear in the morning, once it gets into gear it works normal until it gets hot, then it shows all the symptoms of a FIPL sensor out of tune.
I thougt it was a mecanical problem so i replaced the transmission and converter but the new transmission behaved in the same way. so i returned the transmission and put back my old. (Some 30h mecanical ride for nothing)
My Email is petter@premos.com:
Thank's!
I think you are doing a great job at probing the poroblem.

E4OD shifts in and out?
Dieselzen, I was wondering if you could send me the zip file as well... my email is mr911sc(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
I have problems with the e4od intermittenly shifting real hard in all the forward gears... it can be reset by switching the engine off and back on.
It seems as though it thinks that its under full load.. it locks the torque converter in 2nd through OD unlocking it only to complete the hard shift.
Thanks in advance

mr911sc,
I've sent the zip file to you.
For All Who Find And Follow This Thread And Want The Zip File For Themselves:
I have created a thread titled: "Post email address, get E4OD zip file" to save all the guys who have posted earlier on this thread, and particularly poor "nothingbutford" from having to receive thread post notifications which have nothing to do with their own E4OD problems, solved or not. R.A.

E4OD shifts in and out?
Hey dieselzen. Can you send me the e4od.zip file you are talking about and the sensor test docs. I have a 94 TD IDI and it has the black FIPL on it. Also, my tach does nothing until I put some R's on it then it seems to work fine. If i WOT it, the tach is smooth up to about 3k then jumps almost to 4k and I know it isn't turning that fast. Cruising at 70 tach shows about 2200. Getting almost 18mpg empty
My OD light started blinking this weekend. Started shifting real hard. I pulled the cables on the bats and turned the key on to make sure I had no power. Left it for 5-10 min. Hooked all backup and drove to work this morning with no issues. Shift points are better and doesn't rev as much from 1st - 2nd and 2nd -3rd. Really smooth and nice now..... Any ideas as to what made it go into Limp in Mode??
thanks
john

E4OD shifts in and out?
rpg and jdowty,
The thread I created was trashed by the administrator, "eric_torque1st", extremely fast. Probably set a record.
He felt I would create an easy way for spammers to get FTE board members email addresses. I reasoned before posting the "send email address, get zip file" thread that no one could possibly get any more spam than they, or I, already get. Anyway, it was squashed.
Now, anyone desiring the file should click on my blue colored "dieselzen" user name to send an email to me. I found out today that there seems to be no way to send the zip file through FTE email system, or at least I haven't found it. So, I would suggest anyone wanting the zip file should:
Send me an email through the FTE system as described above and leave their email address within the message. I will then send the zip file through my personal (ISP) email server.
OR
Send an email to my personal email address, which is:
thecabin@datasync.com
I'll take my chances on how much spam I receive. R.A.

E4OD shifts in and out?
deiselzen,
Recieved and absorbed the zip file. Also bought the Ford manual on disc available on e-bay. After about 20 hrs. of reading schematics I found that I didn't need a new processor like the dealer said or a complete trans rebuild like the electronics specialists said. The problem was varmints making a snack of my wire harness. Having my ol, buddy at my favorite trans shop give me the codes was a real help too. That verified the codes the dealer gave me were accurate. A solenoid, C solenoid and trans temp input too high. I will try to post the pics I took. Will be buying a reader soon. Thanks for all the help guys. It has been quite an education.
