Hey guys its been along time. Some of you may remember me ? I was hoping yall could help me out with my brakes. I got good stoping power but the pedal won't come back up . I'm thinking its something to do with the front disk cause i'm getting alot of brake dust on my rims. Just thought someone could chime in on this problem so when i craw under it 2mor. i'll have a clue to were too look first.
Are you using the original underfloor pedals? There should be a return spring on it if you are. Is this a new problem that just started occurring? Or one that's been an issue for a long time? ie; could the spring have recently broken or fallen off, or has it been missing all along?
I'm guessing power disk brakes on the front? sounds like to me a caliper is sticking, does the truck pull to either side? Also do you have the return spring hooked up at the bottom of the brake pedal? I assume floor mount power brake booster etc.? Also the shaft that the brake pedal mounts to has it been greased? could be corroded / dry<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Hey Wayne' I do have a under the floor master [classic haulers ] if thats what you mean ? I don't remember if it has a spring or not. It don't really feel like a spring problem more like a plunger not working . It just started doing this by the way.

I have power 4 wheel disk and no it don't pull at all the pedal just don't return back to the top making the brakes drag.
Sounds like the master cylinder is bypassing. Can you pump the pedal and get it back/firm? If so, it may have a plunger seal worn or scratched. If a caliper is hung up it would create more dust on the side that is stuck and maybe even pull to that side, but not always. Also, if a caliper sticks you can usually smell it due to overheating.....
Good luck, it's to hear from ya.

Dale, jack up the wheels, apply the brakes to see if one is sticking( hard to turn), if it is hard to roll over try taking the wheel off and with a flat screwdriver see if you can release the caliper on that wheel if all else fails.
Long time no read! My pedal tends not to return also. I also have an under the cab master cylinder. I also don't have a return spring, but I'm guessing I need one. I do have some interference with the carpeting. I just finished relocating my front brake hard-lines, so I have no mileage related experience on this to speak of. Let me know what you decide the issue is. How's Blue Dog?
Well after a inspection i can;t grease the shaft it has a boot and a pvc collar under that. Sprayed some wd 40 but that didn't help any. A spring would help i'm sure but i got alot of miles on it like it is ,so something ain't right. Sure hope the booster was made to last longer then this !!!!! i'll check the wheels 2mor. for drag and update this problem. BLUE DOG IS GOING TO LIVE ANOTHER 9 YEARS !!! THANKS 4 ASKING !!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to guess that the compensator port in the master cylinder is stuck or blocked. If that's the case, it won't let fluid from the reservior down into the master cylinder....and it also won't let fluid from the master cylinder go back into the reservior....so the rod inside the master cylinder isn't pushing the pedal up...the brakes might also drag a little.
