i just picked up a 1977 f150 custom. its running 36x12.50r15 super swamper tsl. its got at least a 4 inch block in the back. im wondering what size lift it has on it. i was told it was six inches. so i ordered a 4 inch because i didnt want to buy 36 inch tires and wanted to actually get in it without a running start. and i had a set of 35 inch tires and wheels that fit.
im wondering did i mess up when i bought the 4 inch rough country lift? it only comes with 2 inch blocks cus your supposed to retain the factory blocks. unfortunatly idont have the factory blocks. what are some of yalls suggestions?
I don't have any suggestions for you, but I will say that your truck has the perfect height, stance, and tires. I wouldn't change it IMO. If I were you I would have just gotten some U steps, those small ones that don't look half bad. Then again that's if I were you. I'm 6'1" and just "hop" in lol.
yeah i know, im not going to be using it for offroading. mainly a hardware store runner and something to add to the collection. ive always wanted one of these trucks and finally could afford getting one to work on. i got 315/75r16 general grabber at2 on american racing ion polished wheels. right now i think im gonna leave it as it is for the lift because im afraid that if i stick the 4 inch in there the back will be sitting lower than the front making it look weird. i prefer the level look of it right now but the swampers were junk and the wheels are rusted.
are the rear springs the same for a 2wd as they are for the 4wd? cus ive got quite a few 2wd trucks in the junk yard that are being parted out, along with a '78 f250.
½ton 2wd's have 2½" wide rear springs ¾ & 1ton 2wd's got 3" wide rear springs unless its a super camper special or cab/chassis DRW, these have 2½" wide rear springs.
All 4wd's have 3"wide rear springs accept the '67-'77.5 F250's (hi-boys) and they have 2½" rear springs.
i have a 4 inch lift i already bought thinking id just bolt it in. i wanted something a little milder and not quite so tall. and would fit the tires i have for it better. but since everyone says i have a 6" lift spring pack in the rear and 6 inch lift in the front. then my only choice is to swap out the rear spring or order a pack from rough country. which is nearly 250 bucks. i dont want a monster truck just a good looking 4x4. it probably wont see much offroad use other than checking cows and driving in the pasture so no need for 36 inch super swampers.
this tends to be what i do with my trucks. give them a mild lift and some larger tires. my current 2010 f150 has a two inch leveling kit, and 275/70r18 inc wheels. slightly larger than stock
