I cant get my stop or turn lights on my trailer working. Its a 98 f150 2w drive the tail lights work buts thats it.All lights are working on the truck, but when i tested the plug the only hot wire is the tail lights it has a 7 wire plug I looked at all the connections and everything looks good .Can you guys point me in the right direction a buddy said it could be in the flasher switch. Thanks alot
Did the trailer lights used to work or is this the first time you've tried them?
If they havent been used before the relays probably need to be installed for them. They usually come in a plastic bag in the glove compartment.
Have you checked the fuses? Both under the hood and under the dash?
Near the underhood fuse box there should be 1 or 2 smaller black relay boxes. They should have no empty spots for relays in them.
I think there might also be a fuse or 2 that have to be installed too but I dont remember for sure. Do you have an owner's manual? It should say in there as well.
Wow!! I recently posted this same problem with my 98 f150 4x4 s/c Lariat with towing & 7 pin connector....however, mine did work previously.....seemed to coincide with wet weather...corrosion? I have power at both sides of the fuses....
Is there one switch or relay that could effect the left, right and brake? All lights on the truck work...
check to see if there is a little five bay fuse box located between the main fuse and relay banks and the firewall drivers side under the hood hinge...mine had black tape wrapped to secure the cover down...inside there should be two mini spade fuses in the two slots furthest from the firewall, the second should be a 20amp. this was the culprit in my case. The dealer I went to today informed me of this little box that's not listed in the owner's manual or in the repair manuals. Mine trailer shorted thanks to the trailer shop not rehanging the wires after they reinforced the deck, they left them sitting on the axle and wore thru...So it wasn't associated with the rain after all...
