97 ford f150 trans problem
I have a 97 f150 with a 4.2 liter that has 225 thousand miles on it . 4x4 . The m5r2 is tired and worn out looking to upgrade the trans maybe zf trans or an older trans . Any ideas on what would bolt up? Im going to straight axle it some where down the line and do a diesel conversion in the future but I have to do it stages .and right now the trans is the issue . Not sure where to go the m5r2 is a weak link in what im going to do in the future . I really liked the t17 I had in my 80s f150 low gear first was awesome and it was bullet proof but not sure if the bolt pattern will match my motor . I have a perkins 1004 series to go in the truck and I found an adapter playe to match that trans but will it bolt to my 4.2l for the time bieng if any one out there has had the same ideas or has done some thing similar shoot me some ideas
