missing cylinder

here in lies the problem... when idiling the motor runs - revs - and sounds like one bad little straight 6... put her in gear and a cylinder just quits, and bad. no knockin, pingin, or slappin. just the thing quits on one cylinder. pulled plugs, ok. checked distributor, checked out. checked connections at coil, clean. plug wires are a month old. the only "lead" i have is that the truck started this after i drove through a considerable sized "puddle"... but at the time it showed no signs of weakness. any suggestions will be greatly accepted.

Check it at night (in the dark) and see if you have a spark leak.

on the initial inspection i checked the wires and there was no "visible" leaking, even with a spray bottle. the current possiblity i am thinking now is maybe the spark plugs goin bad? does this sound wrong or am i headed the right direction?

thanx for the reply

I thought you said you had just checked them. Yes, you should ALWAYS start with the basics.
