'87 150 Questions
Hey everyone, I'm a newbie and aspiring gearhead, and I'm glad to have finally found a good Ford truck site. I Have a 1987 F-150, with an in line 6 cylinder and 177,000 miles. I'll be getting a website together for some pictures shortly.
My current project for it is giving the paint job some work. It's tan and badge two tone paint is suffering pretty bad from 16 years of sun abuse. I primarily want to give the hood and roof some help. The catch is that I'm not confident in the remaining life of my truck to invest much in it's appearance. My current plans include buying the closest matching color at Autozone or the like and then spraying it on; then maybe a clearcoat or something. Before doing so, I'd like to get any of your opinions on the matter, regarding the process in general, type of paints/materials needed, etc.
