I have a '96 Bronco. I am considering doing a rears swap to make it 8 lug. I have both rears from a 97 F-250. The problem i have is the front antilock brakes. What can i do to make them work with the 8 lugger and not drive the computer crazy? If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Sep-02 AT 10:21 PM (EST)]Hmmm, you have both "rears?" I'm assuming you're calling a front axle a "rear," or something?
Anyway, what front end do you have to swap in? If it's a D44 you might be able to retain the wheel speed sensors ---------- but maybe not, since Ford SA 44's had 5 bolts for the spindle and TTB uses 6, and I think the spindle is specially formed to accept the wheel speed sensor???
The easier answer is to just forget about 4WABS, tie the wheel speed sensors up out of the way and remove the bulb from the dash.
EDIT: looking at your post more carefully you're talking about swapping in D50 TTB, hardly worth it IMO
is that just on the Bronco's? I was pretty sure the '95 f-150 had just rear anti-lock and the '96 f-250 I have now I am pretty sure is just the rear. How do i find out for sure which it is???
well, I just looked it up in my book for the '95 f-series and it say's it has rear anti-lock only. I guess the bronco must have been differant, but I alway's thought they were the same running gear and braking system.
4 wheel abs didnt come out until about a year or two after the new body style came out, at least on pickups. The SUV's could be different though, but i doubt it, as the manuals for bronco/fseries are the same.
My 94 Bronco has 4WABS and I know the 94 E-150 vans had 4WABS. They both use the same brake systems as the F-150's I'd think it was probably an option on them.
