huh my 350 dont have that i wonder why? At least you got the studs out and youll be real happy with the headers. Now if Gibson only made long tubes and y-pipe to go with it!
My '04 F250 didn't have it either. Must be something they deleted by '04...?
Still trying to figure out what the tick is from, all my spark plugs are tight, the grade 8 bolts i put in for the downpipe connections are still tight and all the header bolts are tight. Guess its just a tick from the headers? Wish someone with a 5.4 with headers lived around here so they could go for a ride
Hey guys I have some broken studs as well and I am not a welder but have access to one. Do I need a mig welder with gas or will a wire feed with flux core wire work ?
A stick welder is alot harder for an inexperienced welder. I'd go with a mig = easier. The heat from the welding alone does alot of the work IMO. Disclaimer= I have never completed this repair so take it for what it's worth..
if you are going to use a stick welder, use an auto-dark helmet.
while i haven't done THIS repair, I've spend a fair share of time behind a welding mask. you'll never hit your target without a helmet you can see through.
i found it seams to help if you rattel the welded nut softly with a air hammer after welding them then slowly work them back and forth. this is an all day project from start to finsh unless your lucky. it also helps to walk away for a bit if your having trouble they tend to come out better after you take a brake.
