351c plumbing question

Hi all, on the block I have 1 threaded port & 1 spigot, on the water pump I have 1 threaded port & 1 spigot

I am using the threaded port on the block for the water temp sender

As I wont be running a heater , do I just block all 3 remaining ports /spigots
Or do I need to loop a small bit of hose between the 2 spigots ?

Also what is the best way to purge the air out of the cooling system ?

Would love an answer today so I can fire the fresh engine up

Cheers in advance Taz

You have your sending unit in the right spot, as per factory.
I would loop the spigots with hose from the block to waterpump until you know for sure, so it doesn't overheat.
The additional hole in the waterpump should be plugged.
As for purging, you could fill the block without the thermostat/housing button it up and fill the rad till its full, fire up, and watch rad level, top up while doing cam breakin.

Ive found by getting the cooling system mostly full, if everything is sealed properly the engine will balance itself coolant wise when it cools down-which means you use a closed cooling system, overflow hose into a container-1/3 to 1/2 full.
I been using a clear 2litre pop bottle with a hole drilled in the lid just a tad bigger than the hose, works great, and replacements are cheap!
