2013 F-150 PLOW PACKAGE

Apparently Ford has seen the light and in the fall will be offering a F-150 in both S/C and SCREW that can handle a snowplow. The truck will be a 7700 LB GVWR package with the 6.2 out of the S/D...thus no EPAS. Initially it will only be available through bailment pools...they get to do the plow upfits.

This would make sense as the 6.2L trucks are non epas. I'm glad that Ford has smartened up and this will be the ultimate test for the six speed trannys.

Personally, I don't think this is any great benefit. Not many of us buy 6.2's so restricting the package to the motor that most wont buy isn't much better then not offering the package at all.

I totally disagree! At least FoMoCo listened to its customers & came up with a snow plow package to todays trucks! The electric power steering is the biggest hinderance on the other trucks for a plow package. Ford is not gonna delete the electric power steering just for a plow package across the board on all of its trucks just so people can plow with a 1/2 ton truck! Its just not worth it to them money wise or demand wise! .......

Reminds me of the old adage..."You can please all of the people some of the time...some of the people all of the time...but...you can't please all of the people all of the time."

The F-150 with a plow package has not been a big seller for Ford for a long time...when equipped that way the truck rode like a S/D and was very close in price to a S/D.

The days of building a vehicle for each individual are long gone.

Hang around the 2009+ forum and you'll get a hint of how many guys want the 6.2L and the EB. Ford will sell every 6.2L that they build and more.

To each his own, but I don't see any 6.2L trucks moving in my area. Trucks sitting here for almost a year. Maybe it's a regional thing.

If I was in the market for a new F-150 I would only get the 6.2! ....

Is the 6.2 on a 2013 available in all levels? If they've opened up the doors to all levels, then they've done something. If they're still only offering the 6.2 in these loaded up trucks that will never be worked, then this plow package is a token that allows them to say.

Ford could develop the necessary electrical system so that the EPAS could function properly with the electrical loads a plows hydraulic pump. But we know the EB will never see a plow, heck the EB can't have a freakin front plate in the path of the intercooler.

FWIW, most of us who put plows on our F150s aren't buying ones with the plow package. Most didn't buy the HD payload package trucks. But we did put plows on our trucks with little to no problems.

Talk to your local dealer, Ford or other brand. Ford dealers can't believe that Ford didn't take the time to develop a truck that could run a plow. Other brand dealers go out of their way to point out that you can't even plow with a F150.

Oh well, I'm done with F150's after this truck anyway. Now back to our regularly scheduled truck banter....

^^^ The only other half ton that offers a plow prep package is the GM twins, currently. Not Toyota, not Nissan and certainly not Ram. So I don't know who besides GM that could possibly have laughing rights about plowing snow...

Ford could adapt the hydraulic power steering to other engines if they wanted to. I, for one, wish they would. I am not a fan of the EPAS. It may be fine on a car, but I would expect better on a truck. A V-6 can plow snow if done properly. Back in the day I plowed with a 4 cylinder Scout and a 6 cylinder Jeep pickup. And I certainly would not be willing to pay the price premium for an upscale Lariat or above for the 6.2L engine with plow prep. I would be more likely to get an XL or XLT for a work truck.

I give Ford credit in a world of fuel ecomomy & smaller engines to offer the plow package on their most cabaple 1/2 ton engine & chassis combo! An Ecoboost cannot plow with a plow blocking its intercooler air flow duct! Heck it cannot even handle a front license plate bracket in the proper location! LOL For an all around most capable workhorse, "Their is No Replacement for Displacement." The more things change, the more they stay the same! kudos to Ford!
