hi everybody,,,
simple repair just some hints on where i might pick up a part.
I broke the driver side mirror on my F150 93. The frame/holder is fine, the mirror shattered (its still glued in and somewhat usable)..
Every where i look on the internet it seems parts suppliers want to sell you the entire mirror assembly (black and chrome paddle type)..
anyone know where i can just buy the lense? I had this happen on my previous truck (82 ford) and i remember just getting the lense, removing the old pieces, scrapping clean, gluing the new one in... but cant remember where i got it...thanks for any tips!
Look in the phone book under mirrors, glass. Most glass shops will replace it for under 25 $.You can do it your self with a heat gun. Just heat the pieces and pull them off the glue. But for the money I'd have them do it.
thanks everyone for the advice,
I went to a local paint/glass store, they pulled down a book, looked up part, made a call to local distributer and i went back and picked up the lense 3 hours later!!! $13.00 bucks!!! cant beat that service,,they offered to put it in for an extra 7 bucks, i declined that...got my heat gun/putty knife scraper ready to bust out the remaining pieces of the old one, picked up some silicone adhesive and ill be ready to go!!! ( unless i crack the new one!! lol)...thanks again!
Picked a new stick on lense for my 92 F-150 with electric mirrors at O'Reillys a few years ago at less than $10.00. Works great.Same one fits my 93 Aerostar.
