One more question for the night crowd... Here's a blurry picture looking down from the top of the vent window rear seal I ordered from lmc. I outlined its shape in yellow.
These rear seals look different than the ones that came off of the truck, which were basically flat strips, and I'm not sure which direction to mount them. Should the direction I marked with the red arrow point towards the outside of the truck, or inside? Thanks for your suggestions in advance!
Is that the strip that mounts on the front of the division channel? If so, I believe it would go like below, the back edge of the vent glass pulls into the "Z" section.
Yes, the seal does mount to the front of the division bar (the black outline represents a cross section), but the orientation is different than your drawing. If the arrow points out, then the vent window should seal like this:
And if the arrow points in the vent window should seal like this:

If my perspective sketches are too crude let me know, I can take some pics with the seal mocked up in the division bar channel tomorrow.
How is the seal attached to the division bar? I'm trying to install seals currently.
My original seals were mounted with adhesive to straps with tabs. The tabs mated into horizontal slots in the division bars and were bent down to hold the strap/seal in place.
The replacement kit I purchased has brass rivets and holes molded into the seals. I guess you could drill out holes in the division bar to mount these, but I'm going to mount the seals onto the straps I salvaged instead, using a combination of rivets and adhesive. Then I'll mount them into the original horizontal slots in the division bars. I can post pics later if you'd like.
This is very helpful. My division bar has slots and the felt seal has holes for rivets. A picture would really help!
Would you mind to post pictures of your door to glass window seal also.
Glad I could help. I'm not putting the doors back together for a few weeks, so this is what I have for you today:
Also, as you may or may not be able to see, the seals I have are rubber and not felt - the anti-rattle strips that run horizontally along the bottom of the window openings are the ones made of felt. For the record, LMC has a good exploded diagram of the different door components here: (Truck Parts and Truck Accessories).
It is worth noting that the seals I have do have what feels like a metal strip embedded inside them. Hope this helps!
I was searching for division bar kits and rebuild when I found this thread, I was wondering if you had anymore pics of your division bar kit. I'm about to order the same one from LMC.
Not looking to hijack this thread, but Mike or anyone else looking to do the same, here is a tutorial I wrote up last year on the kit I went with. Hope it helps,
