Hey everybody I recently purchesed my 3rd obs powerstroke, and when I first crank it up it has a weird lope to it and after about 10 to 15 seconds of running it runs normal. But compared to my other "stock" trucks it has a seemingly rough idle. It kinda has a lot of vibration. The reason I say compared to my other "stock" trucks is because my other trucks ran stock injectors and stock turbos. This truck has a set of 150\146 baby swamps injectors in it with an upgraded turbo I think its a tp38 or something along those lines. I had another truck that had this lope but once I put a ts 6 pos chip on it that lope went away and never came back unless the chip was out. The not so stock truck has the edge evolution programmer instead of the chip. Also it seems that my oil pressure only reads between the N and O on the gauge. My question is what could cause this lope and is my oil pressure of any concern? Iv heard these oil pressure gauges are basically dummy gauges and shouldn't put much stock into that but I don't want it to quit on me. Thanks for any help
Try starting it in neutral instead of park and see if it is the same. Also try and unprogram that edge and try it if attempt one doesn't work. Then if you can, ditch the edge for a custom chip. The edge has fried a few obs pcm's in its day, fyi.
So would i have a bad pcm then too when mine does the same thing stock
No. The op's pcm isn't bad now more than likely either. I was just saying the edge program has ruined some pcm's in the obs trucks. If its running, its not bad.
Try starting in neutral, if the lope isn't there, trans. range sensor could be the problem.
the edge was put on there by the PO. trust me id never spen money on one. but the truck seems to lope less in neutral but still has a slight lope for a second or two. what happens if i drive it with a bad range sensor and what does a range sensor actually do?
Can you fellas tell me a little more about the range sensor? My brother in law is having a romp when he first starts up too, but as soon as he gives it fuel it runs fine, BUT it won't shift into OD. would the range sensor do both of those things? sorry OP.
