Was putting on my soft top today and broke off a couple of the
bracket bolts that hold down the sides of the hard top.No problem
getting the bolts out(easy outs)but I'll need new clips.The ones
that you drive the bolt into.Sheet metal clips that look to have a threaded insert.May as well get a new full set of eight.Instead of going to my local Ford dealer,is there anywhere else I might find these.

Most parts stores - they're called "U-nuts". Either Home Depot or Lowe's (I think it's Lowe's) carries them, too, but they're expensive there. LIke $4ea.

 

I got a set for free at the local pull-a-part. You can remove from any 80-86 pickup/bronco. There a two radiator supports and where they bolt into the core support you will find the exact same u-nuts as used to hold down the top. Grap extras because you will eventually loss a couple.

4 bucks each? well then i guess i was lucky. heheh when i bought my truck the roof was not even bolted down! it took me to road trips to accually notice that it would puckup alittle on the sides around tight turns. well anyways i had only paid like 70cnets each. kinnda pointless due to not knowing where i had got them. ohwell
