Brakes

I have a 97 F-350 four door 4x4 7.3 automatic. I was driving today and hit the brakes and they were hard as a rock. I called my mechanic and he said pull the hose off of the front of the brake booster and see if the vacuum pump is working. So I did it but it didn't seem to be pulling very hard on my finger but he said it was fine so I replaced the brake booster and it didn't fix it still hard as a rock. To me the vacuum pump is even weaker so I am going to replace it tomorrow...any ideas on something I should check first or is that the natural progression?

thanks

Any time there is a vacuum issue on a diesel powered vehicle, the vacuum pump is the first thing to check.. That and the vacuum lines naturally....

It sounds like you are on the right track, you might check over the vacuum lines for any cracks or any deteriorated spots that may be leaking.....
