Sorry D0VE I just been reading some on the 351 and its supposed to b a higher rpm
Motor for less weight. But I also know the 429 has a pretty awesome
Power band . And the local machine shop is a very meticulous ford fanatic and
Will not quit until everyThing in the bottom end is within 1/2 gram and prides himself
On longevity of his creations. He said since it won't be on a circle track at 7 grand for 30 45 min at a time it would be a nice peice for a lone time.
I would go with the 429 as well........both motors can be built to make the same amount of power, but thr 429 should do it quite a bit easier, especially with the small chamber heads.....if I were going to build a 335 series motor for a truck, I'd put some 4v heads on a 400
It won't b used for a truck though hince the hot rodISH. But not a race car either
I doubt it will even have a trailer ball on it, thinking about a 5 speed
And being able to cruise at 60-70 without screaming rpm
since you already have the 429, I'd use it....if you were shopping for either, I'd go with the cleveland.....many a people have used those 2v heads to go pretty fast....
Unless you are afraid of speed & fuel prices definitely go with the BBF.
Just for the record it is D0VE not DOVE. The D0 being 1970. DOVE is a bird.
While the second digit of the prefix is a zero, many Ford peeps typed/hand wrote it as the letter O and also pronounced it as OH. Mid 1980's, Ford made the O official.
When typing obsolete part numbers into websites as C0, D0 and etc, very few parts can be found. Now type the same numbers as CO, DO and etc...you'll find a lot more stuff, guaranteed.
Ok, if a 429 is in order might I ask another question? The motor will be
Well balanced and will almost idle smooth,c-6 or 5 speed? I also have
Spotted a doner truck with a clutch pedal assembly and floor cover
For a standard. Or even a 4 speed with Od 3rd being 1to 1 and 4th
Being like.78 to 1

Personal preference there. I like my C6 but even in the auto department you have a couple OD trans options you could use as well.

i pulled the 5 speed out of my 69 mach1. after 400 hp the tranny jdoesnt hold up like a nice auto.
i have a 351c 2v in my truck, in stock form it is a pig. if you are gonna spend the dough to build that big block, why not go with a more inches?
did you put that cleveland in your truck? Ford never intended the 351c for trucks, just 351M's and 400's......and yes, in stock form theyre very lack luster......luckily, most of that can be taken care of with a cam and a good intake/exhaust combo.....stock crank, block, and rods are good for quite a bit of rpm and power

i bought the truck with it. i pulled the starter and read the numbers. turns out it is a two barrel cobra jet. the truck was originally a 6 cylinder.
the cleveland in the old girl sounds real good and it appears the heads have been done over not long before i got the truck. so i figure a intake, exhaust and cam will hold me over for the time being
