Check the thermostat neck and gasket, Its a common leak point. On mine the neck was rusted pretty bad and the gasket is a joke. Make sure you use some rtv when you put it back together.

Both possibilties are right and more common. Look at the neck of the thermostat and look for the classic green salt there, if its clean, I bet its the WP Also check the clamps in the hoses.

I think I did mine about the same time you did. Mine was like misting out, which I thought was weird, and the bearing was as loose as a [insert crude joke here].

ok just checked. all hoses and conections to the water pump and stat is tight and no leaking. the leaking is coming from what seems to be on the rear of the engine and begining of the transmission. Is there a trans cooling pump there or whats the deal with a leak there???

Removed because I typed the response and posted prior to reading the post above this one - contained information that is now irrelevant.

Could it be leaking from a block plug and running down the back of the engine?

There's another possible leak source. Good call, Jose.

Go to autozone and rent a coolant pressure tester. Pressurize the coolant system and look for leak

ok guys, i took it to my boys at the shop and they pressurized it and saw no leaks anywherre. the only thing they concluded was that there are freeze plugs on the rear of the engine, but the only way to place them is to pull the tranny or transfer case. does this seem probable to you guys, i just dont want to spend a lot of money for nothing
