I had been noticing that everytime i shut the truck off, it dripps antifreeze. Im not sure how to find the leak or something but if there is any possible way i can identify where its coming from, please help me. I can upload pics but im clueless on this one... any ideas welcome
Thanks
Check the thermostat neck and gasket, Its a common leak point. On mine the neck was rusted pretty bad and the gasket is a joke. Make sure you use some rtv when you put it back together.
Both possibilties are right and more common. Look at the neck of the thermostat and look for the classic green salt there, if its clean, I bet its the WP Also check the clamps in the hoses.
I think I did mine about the same time you did. Mine was like misting out, which I thought was weird, and the bearing was as loose as a [insert crude joke here].
i replaced the water pump and thermostat middle summer, so i think that the problem. im going to give it a check and thanks for the help. will give update soon, fingers crossed i just needed to tighten 1 bolt!
ok just checked. all hoses and conections to the water pump and stat is tight and no leaking. the leaking is coming from what seems to be on the rear of the engine and begining of the transmission. Is there a trans cooling pump there or whats the deal with a leak there???
ok guys, i took it to my boys at the shop and they pressurized it and saw no leaks anywherre. the only thing they concluded was that there are freeze plugs on the rear of the engine, but the only way to place them is to pull the tranny or transfer case. does this seem probable to you guys, i just dont want to spend a lot of money for nothing
