I was just told my new engine won't ship out until prob Monday. That sux. I'm kinda stuck.

I do have a bunch of other stuff to do tho. Now I have time for it. I am going to change out my brake fluid. And I have one rotor that's warped. Anyone using Bosch rotors? I'm gonna use Wagner Thermo quiet pads (lifetime Oreillys which I already have) and I'm buying the Bosch rotors for 160 each. I like that they're lifetime warranty. Never buy em again.

I was also reassured that my engine will have the entire valve train assembled. Whew,,, Aren't rocker arms $40 each. That would be almost $800 for them n pushrods (they're called something else aren't they??? Lift tubes???? Something.

 

I have been looking everywhere. But can someone toss a link, if there is one, for a master rebuild kit. One that includes the rocker arms, pushrods, lifters, all bearings,(it would be nice to reuse my old pistons), ect. Is my only option to buy the rockers n lifters separately?

 

it would also be a good idea to check out your tie rods and ball joints while your waiting...at least i would

No shortage of options! I didn't see a single kit with cam or lifters or rockers.

 

Man i dont know what i am gonna do when you have finished this engine swap/rebuild, I have thoroughly enjoyed following this post, im almost like a kid on christmas morning lol its the first thing i check when i get up in the morning

i've been using them for about 5 years now....
problem is with the twin i beam on the e vans,
it's hard to get good tire life with the front end
eating up tires... i run airbags on the front coils
with stiff shocks, and that helps a lot...

but your balance points change at different speeds,
and these fix that....

 

yeah, what you are really looking for is a good machine shop
that knows their way around a sunnen hone, etc.

truth is, if they wanted to do a niche market for 6.0 longblocks,
and do turnarounds, the engine series is ripe for that. a ton of
them in service, with milages approaching major repair times.
the next ten years will be good steady work.

and if they are smart businessmen, they will probably log on
here.

i have a question for M-chan or any of the knowledgeable folks
on here..... with cylinder head surfacing, with the tight tolerances
that have to be maintained with these heads, does anyone do
lapping instead of cutting the heads? it'd be an absolutely perfect
way of getting the heads perfectly flat while removing the minimum
amount of material... just blue the heads and lap till they clean up.

it's used a lot in industrial applications with pumps and such,
but i've not seen it used for diesel or gas cylinder heads....

just wondering....

 

Yeah, that's what I've found,,, they all say rebuild kit, but none of them are total rebuild kits. Sux

I talked to them again today and they are pumped up about it. The exposure here is priceless. They ain't payin me, and the conversations I've had with them have me pumped up too. I think they fully understand the business potential.

 

Yeah, I have moog bj's. they get plenty of attention. Lube every oil change. The suspension isn't an issue yet. Tire wear is great, I'm not messin with it until I have a prob. (But ill tear the engine out cause of a copper washer,,,??? Haha). I don't ever rotate either. My truck is a freak of nature.

 

Not much today, PMM seems like they're messin me around. They keep pushing the ship date back. I'm ready to cancel it. They must have caller id, cause now I can't get ahold of them. Does anyone know If the boss there is on any of these forums?

I had the chain coming out if the tip if the hoist, instead of the slot under the bolt. Gonna get a pic of it tomorrow. Bent it a bit. Freakin rookie. It a very nice hoist tho.


Got the tranny back under the truck. Lifting through the engine bay is nice. For those of us without a lift.
