I just purchased a 93' 150. I am pretty sure that I need a valve job but I am wondering if a set of heads off e bay would be an alternate route worth going down. What I really need to know though, is what heads are on the truck. It is a 93 5.0 4X4 with an automatic overdrive trans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is the fourth F150 I have owned and the first 4X4 5.0. Thanks in advance.
Your cylinder heads are the same iron heads that Ford used on the 5.0 Mustangs from '87-'95 and in the 5.0/5.8 trucks from '87-'96. They are restricitive as far as breathing goes and have 1.78" intake and 1.48" exhaust valves.
I would suggest you upgrade to something that will flow air a bit better for you. I got a pair of Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads for my Bronco (can you tell I had the motor done on my truck BEFORE I got married?) They were expensive, but man that thing revs nicely
Thanks man. I just found out that my dad has a set of 95 truck heads that have 15000 miles on them. I think that the info you gave me will make the decision better. I also am married and since I got this truck during marriage the twisted wedge heads are pretty much out of the question
