I have a 1994 F-150 with a 300 EFI on it automatic ; When i start it cool in the morning or warm , the idle go high for about 2 seconds and them goes all the way down (dont know the RPM, dont have the rpm gauge); there after, when I put it on gear it goes very hard on the trasmission, I'm afraid that will break something. I give it a tune up, clean the throttle body assembly
(I even change it)got a new TPS, can't find any vacuum leak. I don't know what to do next. Can some body help me. Thank's
The E4OD transmission is known for sprag failure that causes hard shifting into gear. If you pay very close attention when you put it in gear you will probably feel it go into gear normally, then a split second later it hits very hard. These two events are so close together it is hard to identify them as two separate things if you aren't looking for it. If that's what it is you have a terminally ill transmission in need of some help. If you don't have the E4OD it could be a similar problem, but I havn't had to deal with it on anything else.
I had notice that sometimes, the transmission, doing as you says(Silver Streak), I will have to check what kind I have on my truck. However ; when I start my truck (cool) Idle for about 2 secons only; not long enough to warm up; it does this everytime I start it (cool or warm up). It start doing this, about 3 weeks back. Like I say, I had done everything I mention early but had no luck; don't know where else to look.
Mine shifts hard when its cold...no solution. It should idle up at first, then drop back into idle range...if it drops down and almost dies you need to clean the IAC.
Hey Silver Streak...I'm confused...what the hell is a sprag?
those things on the little briggs and stratton 5hp mower engines. They let you pull the pullstart without it spinning while the engine is going.... that kinda thing.
