will this IFS work?
I have access to a 1989 Chrysler New Yorker, ( V-6)
I was wondering if this will be suitable for my 55f100. Im running a 302 with a C-4.
Im really having a hard time figuring out what will work the best for my truck. All this fbody, kbody stuff has got me puzzled as heck.
I want to do my IFS swap with the least amount of cutting/hassle.
Ive been searching the threads all night, and am still puzzled.
ANY help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
The 89 New Yorker (RWD - M-body) should have the same suspension under it as the 87 New Yorker I'm using for my 48 F-3. It should go under a 53-56 with minimum hassle. Get the installation video from No-Limit Engineering. It contains all the information you need. Get the whole car if you can as the brake pedal, master cylinder and booster, and possibly even the steering column can be used too.
According to the site where I got that info, the N.Y.'er to 87 only is good and the 5th Ave and another model to 89 are good.
If you have the car now, say so. I think i send you a picture of the entire front suspension unit so you can compare it to what you have.
Regards,
It is confusing for sure. I didn't think any 1989 vehicles were donots but I may be wrong. A Hollander manual is probably the best solution. If you know what a Volare clip looks like is it would be easy to tell. Can you find any of the previously listed vehicles at a salvage yard to compare to? The control arms might not be the best way to verify. Some of the straight T-bar clips even look familiar. Upper control arm anyway.
Thanks!
