I have an 83 F-150 inline with aod.....wether it is hot, cold, slow, or fast she will shut completly off and then immediately start back up.....it may happen 5-6 times a day, or not at all.......NO PATTERN at all, just whenevr it feels like it...Please help guys....about to have annurism.....thx
Does it stall just in gear? Does it die when you are driving down the road at a steady speed, or only when you pull to a stop? Also, does it start backup by it's self or do you have to start it?
I don't know if an 83 AOD has a lockup converter, but it could be locking up when it's not supposed to. I had a mid 80's GM car do this to me.
If it's not that, I'd check the ignition circuit for a short, bad ground or bad (loose) connection. start at the coil and search back from there. Get a haynes manual (~$15) and look at the ignition troubleshooting section.
i will do it in gear, and while driving at steady speed.........tranny has just been rebuilt.....new carb, selinoid, distributor, fuel pump, battery, and plugs and wires.......maybe the ignition module is shot??????????????
