2000 Expedition starting problem
My 2000 Expedition (5.4L) has an intermittent starting issue. On occasion when you turn it over it fires fine but runs just for a second or two and then dies. When it does this if I keep cycling the ignition on and off eventually it will fire up and then it runs just fine. Once running it has plenty of power, no stumbling or missing at all. Sometimes it does this when cold, sometimes when warm. Sometimes it will go a month or two without the problem, then sometimes it will go only a few days between incidents. The last time it did this I had to cycle it 20 or 30 times before it would stay running (every time it was cranked it fired for just a second). Any ideas? Is the fuel pump starting to fail maybe? The pump relay is new.
