MPGS

my 97 f350 powerstroke doesnt seem to get very good mpgs. it has a ts6 chip and straight pipe . lifted with 35s... but shouldnt it still be getting like 18 mpgs? i think its getting about 14 or so

oh i see.. but my buddies trucks get 19 or better mpgs with 38s... its also a 5 speed manual. .. the rear tank seems to hold only 13 gallons and the front 14...

Did he calculate that fuel economy, or is that by his estimation?

im not sure but thats what he said my brother had one also got way better mpgs. maybe i just had bad luck ! bought the truck about a month ago!

Too many factors to say a truck "should get X mpg". It has a lot to do with your driving style and all vehicles are different. Also, I take all mpg claims with a grain of salt.

Lifted and 35s are the first two issues. Driving style is another.

I get 14-16 with my truck and am damn happy with that.

Gears, allinment, dragging brakes, and driving style are the biggest factors in mpg's

You have to understand too that you're driving the biggest possible variation of that truck too (CCLB) and it weighs close to 7,000 pounds.

Probably wouldn't hurt to get it aligned. Has 410 a I believe.

I have 285's 3"and lift.3.55 gears.i drive lika a grandma most of the time,no idling long periods.not over 2k rpms except rarely.17 in town 17.5 highway keeping revs under 2k...no chip...

Alignment checked every year, stock tires, 2wd, overboard on maintance, etc. I agree with the above, I get 9 towing, 13 without a load.

I bet if you went bigger with your tires your mpgs would increase.
