I love this site. Over the last few months this site has been more than informative. I have a question. I recently ordered and recieved a f250 crewcab. After swearing I would never put nerf bars on a truck again my wife and kids are now whineing that they can not get in and out of the truck very easily. So I am being forced into putting nerf bars back on again. I was wondering if anyone knew who made the nerf bars that were a factory option. I thought they looked pretty nice, and if I could purchase them aftermarket it might save me a few bucks vs dealer cost. Any help would be appreciated.
Wes,
Smittbilt makes a decent set of SS bars that look pretty close to OEM. Just an opinion of course, nerf bars look cool but can be an ankle biter if your kids or wife slip on them and their foot twists between the bar and the cab...yes, that's the voice of experience. I now have running boards.

I bought my nerf bars from Ford. They are the same ones they put on at the factory. Most dealership "parts department" are selling them below their cost. I have Crew Cab F-250 and they were $359 out the door. I drove to Ford, bought them and installed them myself all within an hour. Easy install!! You probably could buy a cheaper brand, but that was one factory item I actually think looks better than the rest of the nerf bars on the market.
Hey Wes you might try your local aftermarket truck shop I know the ones around here get trade in or take offs all the time I personally have the kinda grey plastic ones that were stock in 2000 and they work well. but the chrome ones are cooler looking.
Fyi-I would strongly suggest checking to see that whichever bars you purchase that you can purchase the brackets seperately. I got the factory bars and had planned to take them off in a few weeks. When I drove out of the parking structure I was building I missed the ramp by a hair and the bar caught in the concrete ever so lightly but snapped the front two brackets. Since I wanted to sell the bars I called Ford for replacements only to find that you have to pruchase the whole kit just to get those piece of **** cast aluminum brackets. Found some poor guy who needed the brackets and sold the whole thing to him.
I have the stainless ICI step tubes. The tubes are great, the brackets are the problem. They rusted within 5 months. ICI sent new brackets but I don't look for them to last much longer. They seem to be painted black rather than power coated.
Since you got the CC, may I suggest the GoRhino 3-step nerfbars. They make getting in and out of your truck and it's bed an ease... besides, it keeps those imports from hitn your quarterpanel AND they look sweeeet!!
