So I just had the wonderful pleasure of having someone hit my driver side mirror and break it off. Of course they stopped and left a note, profusely apologizing for my misfortune for what they had done and gave a way to contact them to have it repaired.
Oh right... that last part didn't happen.
Anyways, since I'll need to be replacing the mirror, I was curious if there was more to having the power folding mirrors installed than just a simple plug and play with possibly a new switch.
My current mirrors are power, heated, self tinting with the turn signals. I've tried searching the forum but i'm a little too ticked off still to actually focus on what I'm looking for.
I am not sure power fold mirrors were an option on these trucks or even if there is an aftermarket part for it. Good luck bud but I think you might be searching for something that doesn't exist.
I have been interested in this also. I posted a thread on it. here it is. THe second post has some good info in the link. I decided it was too much money and not really needed for me, just wanted.
I know the trucks can come with the power fold mirrors, and I know that you could start getting them around the 07's. I just need to find out if my truck could be wired to run them, or if I would have to install the missing wire and relays myself.
I need to replace a mirror anyways, so why not upgrade it, if it is easy?
Now I'm really curious to if these would work or not, as I found someone selling a set of powerfold mirrors for $350. Thats cheaper than the one replacement mirror I found. Can someone send me a wiring diagram or something for a 2008 XLT Scab?
Or... does anyone know if the wiring pigtails are compatible from a 2012 mirror onto the 2008? I also found a set with the convex mirror in the driver side, along with heat, auto dim and turn signals from a 2012. $200 for the set and they were only on for a few days before the guy switched to towing mirrors.
