Which auto trans you have? A trick I use sometimes (mainly when I had my 2wd longbed F-250) is shift to manual second gear. Just put the lever in 2 and roll into the throttle real easy. The higher gear allows the engine to rev more (more converter slippage) before the tires begin turning.

Only works on Fords, by the way. Chevy/Chrysler transmissions start in first gear no matter if you shift to manual second or not.

Also, if you're offroad, you can let air out of your tires to get more contact with the ground. Don't drive on the street with low air though, always air back up once you get back to hard road.

Another trick... if you're pushing mud with your front wheels you can work the wheel left and right to clear a path for the front tires.

I wouldn't do it in mud, just wet grass. Even so, unless you were doing it repeatedly it won't hurt the trans.

Its a little chunk of metal about as big as a baseball that replaces the spider gears in your carrier for positive traction. Basically the cheapest store bought locker you can buy. One for a 9" with the chromo center pin is like $50

Youll also need a couple qts of gear oil and some rtv but yes.

I think we got the spool and pin from JBG. Places like Summit or Jegs or pretty much every race or axle supply store will have mini spools for 9" axles and I doubt quality is better for one brand versus the other
