so i found myself wondering why my heater doesnt blow very well and the parts store told me it would prolly be my heater resistor so i ordered one but one thing i had noticed was there are two plugs on it does anyone have any idea what goes on the top part of it or maybe a picture of it because it seems my wiring is a bit of a mess so thanks guys
I have the same issue my Bronco uses the same parts same blower motor same resistor my heater on high in my Bronco poles 18 amps DC. in my truck same parts on high only polls 12 amps DC in my truck I also replaced the blower switch and got the same result there is a noticeable difference between the 2 the Bronco will blow the hat off your head. And my truck does not... the higher the amp draw the faster the blower wheel is spining..... have yet to figure it out.... the resistor is only 1 wire harness...
okay well my question is you got the three prong plug on the bottom part of it and then it looks like either a double or a single prong plug on the top part of it and the top part wasnt hooked up to anything does anything plug to that would that make a difference i ordered one because eveythign works fine the motor and all works just cant figure out why it doesnt blow that much i mean a hair dryer puts out more air than my blower does
Well it could be a blend door issue .... make sure the accutators are pulling shut all the way..... ill take a pic of what i have... let run out a take some pics
FYI it could also be the control panel inside the truck. The Diesel uses a different one then gas with a lot more electronics. I have a different one but haven't installed it yet. got more fish to fry first.
okay well your plug is different than mine also the picture i posted is the style thats in mine but i got curious about it so i went out and pulled my blower out to "check" it and come to find out it was suckin the air out of my cab because the wires to the blower motor were hooked up backwards and also i was dinkin around with that resistor and im assuming the top one is a ground i hooked up one of the random black wires to it and it made all my settings work where as before it didnt. but my question is now is that resistor supposted to be heating up. i could smell burning when i had plugged it in and i hate the smell of burning wire so is that the amount of amps it is pulling or what? i think i need a better picture felix thanks though for at least answering and trying helped a litle
The one with the blower speed switch, temp contol and function, as well as possibly the dual tank switch or a bronco rear window switch.
Mine does sound different, not the perfect hi med low off but I almost get nothing out of the upper vents, absolutely nothing from the defrost and a decent amount from the floor IIRC, I dont drive the truck often and most of the time the air is off because it would just be blowing 100* air around.
no my control works it switches tanks i can hear it do that the door for temp control works the speeds work im more or less trying to figure out what and why that resistor is doing what its doing
