I have a 2000 f350with the 7.3 diesel, it was a 6" lift with 37 1250's...the gears are stock but I am thinking about either the 430's or 456's.. I will drive 75% on the road and 25% sand or mud..I also tow a 20' enclosed trailer with bikes. Getting ready for a east coast to west coast move so trying to get the best combination.
Any help I would appreciate it..I am also new to the diesel motor..so looking at cold air intakes and and exhaust systems. Heard if I go bigger I will lose torque?
4.30 would put you at stock gearing with 37" tires...I chose to go with 4.56 gears because I tow a lot with mine..the 4.56 with 37" tires I turn just under 2100 rpms @70mph..
Cool then 456 it is....just had a new Jasper with deep tranny pan installed. What size exhaust do you recommend.. Don't care for stacks.. There is no cat all straight pipe.. Also looking at cold air intake..
New to the diesel scene so anything that will make the beast run better let me know,,,

Thanks guys
A lot if people like the Aero turbine exhaust seems to give better MPG over others. Or the mbrp is good too. If you have the money go with the afe 2 intake. If u want to save a little money talk to clay at riffraff about the 6637. Also never heard of losing torque.
Just called M&M trucks in south jersey and this guy is the guy all the big trucks go to.. Asked him what gears to run and he says he would go 456 or 488's and said that it with the stock gears with the big tires I lose a lot of power towing and fuel mileAge along with it. Also was told to replace the stock hubs and go to manual lockers....

488's??? holy crap, are you planning on towing 100' yachts and loaded semi tankers? Locking hubs are nice, cheaper than the auto locks from the factory too. I like these Riffraff Diesel: Warn Premium Hub Set
I agree with Joe, I tow my 37 foot 5th wheel with 3.73's... used to run 37's, now running 35's, I was almost happier with the bigger tire, now it seems like my motor is screaming a lot more while towing. I would not go over 4.30's IMO, but to each his own.
That is why I came here...to get the opinions of those that have tried what I am going to do...and let me know what you found out...thanks guys. Ok looking at 430 or 456... Mike of M&M of south jersey informed me of his opinion and he also likes the warn hubs...so those are a done deal now waiting for his call....
Again appreciate all the help...
Also afe 2 intake looks good..all the reviews are positive..
I'm with joe too 4:30s with 37s. If you drive your truck as a daily driver 4.10s might help too. Have you looked to see if you have 3:73s to be 100% sure? If you already have 4:10s and are mistaken you'll be throwing a lot of cash out the window for nothing.
Being new to diesels you have to think about how much torque your truck is making even not being tuned. I'm running 38x15.5s on 3:73s right now at 82 mph I'm at 2000 rpm. She still has the power to get out of her own way in a hurry. I'm going to be parking the truck soon and use it as a play toy even then I don't plan on running any higher than 4:56s..... For now
