Well with that milage (270 miles) I first wait for the motor brake in LOL, then if its stock (no chip, no sticks, etc) I would not worry, this beast were made to tow IMHO.
But I surely install some gauges ASAP to peace in mind.
I would say keep the rpm's up. I don't think the turbo really starts working good till you get to 22 or 23000 and that will give more power and keep help keep EGT's a little lower. That's just what I have experienced, also shift down when needed and if you have an auto trans keep it out of OD on any incline.
Good, you shouldn't have any problems, like Mike said.
You should however make it a priority to get a EGT gauge. Its my number one gauge I stare at going up hills!
Yes I also mentioned that above.

Rich 22 or 23000 is a wide range, dont you think?
And of course RPM up.
If I loss speed on a hill and drop down to about 62mph I kick it out of overdrive. A steep hill about 45mph I'll drop into second with my auto.
I dont want to hijack but when I loss speed on a hill, if I kick out of the overdrive, the truck doesnt do anything, even with the pedal in the floor and if I drop into second manually, same thing, the engine doesnt increase the revs, do you have any thought about this? This is pulling my TT (6-7k)
