Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows how to install a new radio into the 67's 1 cord set-up it has. Also any ideas on where to put speakers would be helpful. Thank you
I don't have a mounting kit. I was just going to bend down the metal in the slot, then use some pipe hanger to hold the radio in place. I have no idea how to do the wiring if someone has a schematic or something that would be great.
I doubt if we'd be of much help because your truck wiring is very likely not the same today as it was when it was built, over the years the likelihood is that the wiring has been spliced here and there over the years as previous owners changed the stereo, added a CB radio, etc. If you have a multimeter it will be easier, but you need to find two power sources. One that is switched, goes off and on with the key, that will power the radio, and one that is constant to wire up to the memory lead on the stereo, so the clock & stereo settings work correctly. I would typically splice into the cigar lighter wiring for the constant 12v source. As for the switched power, if there was an old radio in there it might already have been wired to a switched source.
You might consider a mounting kit, it will make the installation look a lot neater. You want the kit for a early 80's Volvo if memory serves me correctly, it has a similar angle to the dashboard (except upside down compared to a Ford truck).
Can anybody show the original poster a pic of the radio mount setup I am talking about? I don't have a pic of mine and not having much luck googling it.
Thank you for the answers, I found the volvo mounting kit and its not a bad idea. I 'm just looking for something simple at the moment to make my drive to work more bearable (I'm not a very good singer). I'm actually pretty sure its all the original wiring, I can't find anything under that dash that has been spliced. The only thing I can find that isn't hooked to my heater controls is that one cord with the dual in/out on the end.
I'm probably too ignorant on the subject to be able to get help from the internet. I'm gonna have to find someone to show me how to do it.

Ok well if your original wiring is all intact, then why can't you just use the same wire that powered the original radio?
Dude that came out very nice, I like that you were able to salvage & reuse the original bezel. I didn't even try, it looked to me like it was too narrow. I used the volvo kit for mine. I also like that you were able to fit good size speakers in the dash, I wish I had thought of that. I just cut sheet metal to the original 5x7 size and mounted two 3.5 speakers. You have a lot fuller, deeper, louder sound than I do for sure. I'm gonna augment mine by adding the highliner one of these days.
