New guy from PA

Hello all, i've just became the owner of a 51 f1 pickup which will need a complete restore. It's gonna be a nice little project that'll keep me busy for a while. i'll post pictures and such soon. this forum has already been very helpful to me as i'm new to the world of vintage pickups, i've restored a 55 fairlane, and currently own a 55 ranch wagon and a 55 customline.

Decent start and it's a 5 Star Extra model. Has additional options.

Welcome! Do you have any pics of the engine? What does it have under the hood?

When did the 5 star first come out? Did the 48/50's have an option like this?

And X2 on seeing under the hood.

I'm in Beaver County which is 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. Let me start by telling the story how i got it.. ive wanted an early 50's ford pickup for a while and found one on craigslist. the guy wanted a little too much ($2500) but was open to trade for a quad or pickup. I found an 01 F150 4x4 with 8 foot bed for $400 that "didnt run". i knew what the problem was right away and bought it. it was a bad a/c pulley so i installed a bypass and drove it home..called the guy up and he came over, wanted the truck so we traded. it came with new fenders. no motor or trans which is good for me because i have a 302 and c4 trans for it..i already have most of the front end removed and in my barn. i could use a new bed. i definitly want to put in a different rear axle. everything will be stock or appear to be stock after i'm finished. cept for disc brakes up front.

So a straight trade, no cash? That is a good deal.

I am from Central PA, about 30 miles north of State College. Just last week I went to Belle Vernon, just south of P-burgh to get a 1970 F-350 flatbed dump, paid $2600 for it. A good deal for me.

good luck with your project and it is good to have another PA guy on FTE!
