so i drained my oil because i checked it and it was really thin. i think some how i got some diesel in it when my return lines were leaking so heres my question what can i run threw there to clean it up basicly. i was told at one point i could use some hydrallic oil and really all im trying to do is get the remaining oil out of it that has the diesel mixed in with it help me oout please has anyone else had to do this
Why not just mix it into your fuel tank? I don't believe diesel and oil will separate once mixed. At least this way it is not wasted. Next time you fill up add it to the tank. I wouldn't take the chance of running it in your motor.
no what can i use in my motor to get the rest of the oil/fuel mix out of the motor. i dont care to run motor oil threw my motor i use the stuff for weed control i wanted to know if i ran hydrallic oil threw it would it harm anything?
the small amount of fuel that remains won't harm anything. too much of it will dillute the oil and thin it out, causing problems. but changing the oil should leave less than a quart of the old oil (mixture) in the crankcase, and even if its half fuel, thats not more than a pint of diesel mixed into nearly 3 gallons of 15w40. thats harmless.
as for burning the old oil as fuel, many of us do, including myself. i'm quite happy burning such a mix.
but i wouldn't admit to the internet about dumping it on the ground for weed control
LMFAO okay yea i kinda figured but just thought i would ask and as far as weed control goes it gets used for killing off stumps and such my grandma has a farm so really nothing goes to waste out here.
i'm with you on the no waste idea. when i started storing up waste oil, i was planning to build a waste oil furnace to heat the workshop. then i started burning it in my truck, and i've consumed one of my 3 barrels so far.
oh i got a space heater thing that runs off multiple fuels so what oil i dont pour on stumps and other trees gets burned in that thing keeps my shop warm all winter when im out there
