tailgate hinge position ?

tailgate hinge position ?
After 6 months of restoration, I'm about to put my tailgate back on and I'm not sure which way the lower hinge goes on. In the one postion the hinge looks to close to the body and the tailgate might hit the bed body. The other position it likes like the bottom of the may be to far away. The hinge in question has a cut out on part of the section that goes into the tailgate to allow it to pivot. If someone would be kind enough to open their tailgate and tell me which if they can see a cut on that piece I would appreciate it. Hopefully my description is clear enough.
