I own a 93 F-150 auto. xtended cab 4x4 351w with a 6" skyjacker suspension lift. whenever i hit a bump at speeds b/t 43 and 48-49 mph the passenger side tire bounces uncontrollably. I either have to stop or swerve the truck to get some weight off the tire. I am scared it is gonna really mess up my truck, please help. i bought new shocks and i think it might be the stud that holds the seat of the bottom of the spring is bent enough to cause problems.
Thanx,
Jason
Ok, I'm just a girl, and maybe this is WAY off, but my Expedition did that a few weeks ago and my tie rods were broken, but BOTH of them. Maybe the one on your passenger side is bad. Just a thought.
tires well kept, brand new shocks (i thought the same!), I will defintely look into the tie rod, i'm thinking it may be the coil is bent. thanx, keep'em coming!!

your truck needs a steering box. ive seen this problem over and over. i just replaced one in my buddys 93 f-150 for the same problem. we would hit a bump and the front end would start to shake and we'd have to pull over to stop it. it has nothing to do with tires or springs or shocks. trust me!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Aug-02 AT 11:49 PM (EST)]are sure about that steering box? They aren't cheap. Now that i think of it my truck is nearly impossible to turn when it is sitting still. It is almost like a manual. DO i just need a new steering box or what all do i need. Thanx so much!

i have noticed however, that when i put weight in the back of my truck it gets real bad, and i had my rear shocks off for a day to re-paint (redneck) it got real bad too. just to be a lil more informational.
i have replaced quite a few of them. they wear and get alot of slack in the steering. others cause the shimmy. their not that expensive. like 200$ and you can replace it yourself.
You are right, lightning, i was going to my g/f's house and my truck started "bouncing" i looked out the window and my tire was not bouncing but vigorously wobbles. I had to replace my passenger side tie rod end and i did not get it re-aligned, it worked fine then! i am gonna try to re-align the tie rod end in the morning. thanx for all the help.

Same thing here. Front end kinda swerves side to side and feels very unstable. I thought it was the tie rod ends and that didn't fix it. I then changed the whole drag link. Cause they were worn looking. Nope. Then a friend said my balljoints could be bad so I took it to a friends house and he said they were fine, he said my wheel bearings were bad. Changed those on both sides. That didn't fix it. Yet all the work was improving it greatly. Then last week I started my truck and forgot my cell phone in the house, I ran back out and noticed my PSbox leaking. For about a week I had to fill the thing every day then all of a sudden the seal completly failed.
My buddy said I could spend $15 on a seal and I was going to do that but ordered a steeringbox instead cause it is 13 years old. $200 bucks later and it drives perfect.
The box made the most improvement by far. I still havn't had it realigned (waiting till it was fixed) but it feels great. Appt on Thursday and I'm very happy.
i had that happen on a van i had .it was the stearing box and the stearing arm, apparently when there jacked up or your hauling loads all the time the front end lifts and causes tension on the stearing arm and screwes up the shaft going through the box and the wears out the bearings and worm gears. :-staun
