Cross-over Tool Box
so I have been busy making sure that all my stuff is out of the inside and taking off my brush guard, lights, and winch. My question pertains to my cross-over tool box for the bed. When I installed it three years ago I put it on with double sided tape so I wouldn't have holes in the bed rails. Now, three years later, after all the heat and cold changes, I am wonder what will be the quickest and easiest way to get this thing off? I need help with this one please. I don't want to mess up the tool box and I really don't want to mess up the bed rails before I trade it in. Thanks for y'alls input.
Here is what I did..I got some WD-40 and sprayed as close as I could between the liner and the box. Making sure not to hit the paint on my truck. Then I got a friend of mine to get on one side and I on the other and we lifted it off..The WD-40 sure makes it easyer to take off..
Next get some WD-40 and spray the box where the tape will still be and get yourself one of those paint scrapers, thats what I used, and slide it or scrape it off..do the same to the liner that has the tape on it or the black foam,Then you can peal it off with your hands....
Also Be careful when you do this but i also
put some alcohol on the liner to get all the sticky crap that was left on it.rub with a towel.Don't get it on your paint I dunno if it would hurt the paint but i didn't want to find out..and then put some alcohol on the bottom of the box and rub the sticky stuff off of it with a towel
And when I said scrape with the paint scraper don't do it hard just enough to start a peal to peal the tape off..Then use alcohol to clean it up and make it look like it was never there
