Badmouthing Fords

I was doing a senior english project and I had a friend that had a '97 GMC 1500 and when he was riding in my '79 F-150 he complimented me on how well it rode on the gravel roads and pavement, and how quiet it was. I thought he was joking, really. He had a new truck and mine was better, rarely is that the occasion, mainly because my seats were shot, the springs were quite soggy and the shocks were nonexistant, plus my 24 year old door seals were cracked and falling apart. I took a ride in his poickup and indeed it was worse. It was terrible. I have since replaced all of the problems I had with my truck, the ride is 10 times better and you can't even feel the wind anymore. I have never ridden in a pre 90's chevy but around here ford trucks and cars outsell GM products 4 to 1. You can count them while driving down the road. New and old alike. I would never buy a chevy and I don't even think about dodge so my only real choice is ford. We have a 2002 Jeep GrCherokee and my truck still rides better and has way more leg room. Ford better not go bankrupt otherwise I'll have to walk.

I won't buy ANYTHING with an aluminum head or block for that matter. Aluminum is fine for racing aps and works for a little while in a daily driver but it will not take even the slightest amount of abuse. My son owns a vehicle with an aluminum head but HE bought it, -not me...

I got my Ford genes from My dad he used to help my grandpa rebuild engines and fix problems they had. My dad said that for every Ford engine that was in the shop there were at least 3 or more chevy engines being fixed at a time. Kinda sad but true my grandpa backed him up and he owns a corvette!

Badmouthing Fords

Well I used to be a Diehard Chevy Man and a full blown ford Hater. An old timer I used to work with in high school owned an old beat up 6 cylinder 4x4 Ford pickup (which is now mine) which is used to badmouth. He had owned several Chevy, Dodge, and Ford pickups over the years, and he found the Ford trucks suited his needs best. Not all of his Fords were perfect he had a 75 f150 with a 351, he had to have the engine rebuilt at 90k. His Dodge trucks handled poorly on snow covered roads, and didn't run very well when it rained. His Chevy trucks had a tendency to eat clutches, but were overall decent trucks. The 84 F150 (currently my truck now) was his first 4x4, and he said it was the best pickup he ever owned. He now drives a 93 f250 4x4 diesel for his new work truck. I am a Ford Man at heart but I would drive a Chevy or Dodge.

Angry Badmouthing Fords

Well, since Im still a newbie to FTE, I guess I'll get most of my babbling out of my system early in the game.

My brother and I used to race stock cars at the local track. That was a while back and we have long since given that up, but we did keep going to the races every week end for a long time. After I got married, the wife and I would go to the races together, but it got so it just wasn't half the fun it used to be. Seems we could never find a spot to sit and root for one of the few Fords on the track without some drunken fool ( or even a few sober fools ) making rude and crude remarks about Fords. Well, before my last back injury, I used to have a pretty good physique and that in and of itself kept me from having to fight some drunk, but the combination of the booze, the ignorance and the hyperactivity induced by the crowd and the tight racing there was always some danged fool who thought it would be best to beat some "sense" into my head, as they so ineptly put it. Of course, when I was younger I also had a wee bit - a weee lil bit, mind you - of a temper. So back then I was a bit more wiling to oblige them.

One evening we were sitting next to a guy and his friends, sitting there swilling beer like it were water, eventually getting staggeringly drunk. There was a car show right at half time in the races and there were some really nice cars of all types and I can appreciate someone loving his or her own brand of vehicle, so I commented to the guy and his girlfriend next to me a couple times about several Chevys a nice Roadrunner... all the while they agreeing.." Yeah, really nice car."

When I next commented on this great Boss 302 the guy was showing, this guy and his girlfriend both just got indignantly stupid and started saying every rude insulting thing they could come up with about Ford.... nothing at all, of course, with any realistic value. Then the guy made the comment that "all Ford lovers ought to be taken out and shot." Well, needless to say, that kind of hit a nerve. I asked the guy if he was serious, which of course was a mistake. That started him on another rant. I asked him if he had ever owned, driven or worked on a Ford. Nope... wouldn't touch 'em with a ten foot pole. Well, to make a short story long.... I finally told the wife it was time for us to leave, but I just had to get one ding in at this guy...dang Scorpio in me I guess... so as we stood up to go, I leaned over and told the guy I happened to Love Fords and that it was ignorant fools like him that made going to the races no fun anymore. He started to stand up to say something, but was apparently too drunk.. he fell over backwards into the lap of an elderly lady that was sitting behind them. The last I saw of that guy, as we walked away, was an elderly gentleman holding him by the shirt front apparently reading him the Riot act....something about "I like Fords and am tired of your drunken and stupid mouth...." the conversation fading as my wife and I disappeared into the sunset.

I don't know what happened after that, but I presume the mouthy one sad down and shutup. (Hmmm... why do I doubt that? )

OK- is there a moral to this diatribe? Nahhhh. But the wife and I haven't been to the races in over 10 years now, because of all the foolishness. All it takes is a few ignorant fools who are so dedicated to their breed of auto, to ruin a good thing..no matter where you are.

Even if you are a devout Ford, Chevy or Dodge person.. be cool man... you only make yourself look like the proverbial IDIOT, you are ruining someone elses fun and you sure as heck aren't going to make a Chevy lover outta me just by bad mouthing my Fords.

ok--I think I'm finished babbling for this time.....

Have a good one and enjoy your Ford!

But If I keep having Problems with this EXPY, THAT will make me a Chevy lover!.. Oh well I have never been Brand Loyal, I drive what fills the Niche.. Although I have always LEANED towards Chevy because I Liked the look and Style Of their Vehicles over Others. ALways been Partial To jeeps because of their Off-road prowess. Kinda Liked the Old Chevy Ford AND dodge muscle Cars.
Now I have an Expedition, because it fits my need, not because its a Ford.

Moved to General Conversation. It seems people still don't read the description of the The Ford -vs- The Competition secton. Ford -vs- The Competition is for factual comparison of specifications between the brands, not for opinions and emotions.

You didnt comment on it with all the other "emotional" threads, so I just followed suit after working a 12 hour overnight shift. I will make this my last post in any of the forums, so I dont offend you or anyone else, by stepping over the bounds of your specific conversations. Im new here and still learning the ropes, but from now on I will keep my opinions to myself. Thank you kindly for setting me straight. Your constructive criticism is appreciated.

I've owned chevy 4x4s , ford 4x4s, even a toyata 4x4s all have their own pro's and con's. the more you abuse them the more things brake on them the more work you have to do to fix them. never owned any car truck or van i didn't end up having to turn a wrench on. have found ford parts are usually easier to come by. unless i own it when it breaks then noone seems to have a replacement i can get.

When it comes down to the nitty gritty. I may not like the newer Chevy trucks or the corporation, BUT, I have a lot more in common with a 4x4 Chevy owner that enjoys going off-road then I do with Al Gore or Bill Clinton.

I do not bad mouth any American make, if they were all that different (except for Jeep Wrangler - one of a kind) they would either be extremely out ahead in sales or out of business.

Someone that goes to a fan site (Chevy, Ford, lowrider, import sport, rap group, etc.) and causes trouble and leaves negative messages just to rile people is a loser and needs to get a life.

Hmmm... the above is the TITLE of these threads--- "general conversation>badmouthing Fords" . This is copied and pasted from the top of the page containing these threads. What am I missing here? I and most others here have offered "general conversation" on the topic of "badmouthing Fords". What is out of line with any of the posts? Can you be more specific? I finally find a place to share my feelings, opinions and what general knowlege and experience I can share from my 51 years of living and now with your above post, I am totally confused. I'd say that MOST of us are not so completely trained or skilled in the exact mechanical technicalities of each breed of vehicle that all we want to do is compare valve sizes, cam lift and duration or whatever it is that your above post implies that we should be doing under this above named thread. If you want only a bunch of professional mechanics, skilled in the totality of engine and mechanical sciences to post in here, please say so. If we aren't supposed to share general conversation under a topic of "general conversation" then I am completely dumbfounded.
Now, if you wish to delete me from your "club" for questioning your authority and the meaning of your post... then be my guest. I still stand by everything I have said, have not attacked anyone, neither has anyone else, and I would like to continue to make posts when the mood strikes me. But you have totally confused me and Im sure perhaps a few others.
I humbly apologise that this post isnt a discussion on whatever it is your interpretation of the title of the threads is supposed to mean, but I would like some clarification here..... and please.... if you need to... break down each piece of the above thread title and explain where we have all gone awry. Sheesh.

Hey Fordlover1951 - Welcome to FTE

I shouldn't need to bring this up, but I will. If you'll notice, even the part of the "quote" that you used by the Webmaster states that the thread was Moved from my Ford vs. the Competition forum and he states the reason that the thread was moved based on the wording below the Ford vs. title that pretty much sets what kind of posts we're trying to keep in the Ford vs. forum. If you recall, your first posts to this particular thread were made while it was in the Ford vs. forum.

In no way was the move or comments directed at you or to you personally. I was actually surprised to see your reply to his moving this thread with you being a Ford Lover.

We do have many other threads in that forum that may not belong there, but we can't catch them all. There's well over 100,000 users on this site and way less than 1/1000th of 1% of us are Moderators. We're trying to do the best we can and keep the forums on topic.

I do hope that you ease up and start enjoying this site and all it and it's users have to offer.
