I'm having trouble finding an adapter to bolt my 59-AB engine exhaust flanges to an engine stand. Frank Oddo's book suggests Antique Auto Parts and Motor Arts, but AAP doesn't list one on their website and Motor Arts appears to be out of business. I also tried Stumpy's Fabrication and haven't gotten a response to my emails. Other than building my own adapter, does anyone have a suggested source?
Try Reds Headers. He has a web site and the times that I have called the business directly he was very helpful. He is located in the SoCal desert near Palm Springs.
Get yourself a piece of 1/4 inch plate just a bit longet than the exhaust manifold, and about 4-5 inches wide.
Place the manifold approximatly at center of that plate, mark out the holes through the manifold onto the plate. Once thats done drill these a little larger than the bolts that hold the manifold to the block.
Get yourself a piece of round black steel pipe with a good thick wall the diameter that will fit into your current engine stand, put the pipip inside the engine stand and mark it through the hole in the top for the pin, you may want a few for different angles, and one completly through for a piece of pipe to turn it with.
Measure for the angle you want the engine to sit at, which will be horizontal, then cut the pipe to that angle that the block is, weld it good and solid and there you have your custom built engine stand.
