Throttle Cables and Rods
On most 70's truck V8 engine applications, I mainly see the adjustable threaded (solid) rod used from the accelerator pedal to the carb. On the 300 6 cylinder engines, I always see the spring loaded cable assembly. I was starting to think on the 78-79 trucks equipped with a 351M or 400, they all had the thin cable design, like that used by my own 1979 F150 4x4. Yesterday at a local junkyard however, I saw a 1978 F150 2wd equipped with the threaded rod version (not like the thin cable on my own truck). For my own curiosity, does anyone know why the differences, and what specific applications came with the straight thin cable design? Just curious...............

Well, I looked in a catalog and they offer this cable for the 1979 models only. That must be it. I thought it was a 351M and 400 thing, then later, maybe just a 4wd thing for these same engines, now I guess 1979 models period (other than the 6 cylinders). Weird to switch over just for one year...............................
