Changing oil pump

I am changing the oil pump on my 88 f150 2 wheel drive with a 4.9 and a mazda 5 speed. What all is required to do this... I am prolly going to go to my uncles shop if he has an opening but can i do it in the garage with a floor jack or would it just be better to use the lift and everything.....

Changing oil pump

Are you going to change the screen and pan as well?
I noticed some other postings about 50% clogged screens, I think I saw them in the in-line six room. Also, I had my oilpan gasket replaced by a mechanic, the new gasket worked fine, but the mechanic sanded and painted my oil pan because of exterior rust. Now I have a pin-hole leak in the bottom of the pan. I have to go back with a new pan and gasket to have them re-installed. I was advised by a couple of guys to get a new screen and pump, because they will go bad before the new oil-pan gasket does.My mech says he had to loosen the motor mts., remove the fan, and jack the engine up a bit to get in there.I think i paid about $80 bucks for the pan, 60 for the pump, and 50 something for a the whole screen/tube assy. These are ford dealer prices around Philly. By the way, the pan is made of thin metal, if you can upgrade to a better pan, do so. Good luck
