Date code

I had a seatbelt problem with the passenger side front and long story short ended up buying the belt my self (the dealer refused to fix it). I need to know what the date code 483111 means. Any help is welcome, these things are $215 for something that should have been warranted.

What kind of problem were you having with it? My wife complained about the seatbelt not releasing and getting tighter and tighter. When it would do that, you could hear the ratchet clicking. I played around and could replicate it, but it seemed to do it only towards the end of the travel. I moved the upper door adjuster down as low as it would go and haven't heard any complaints (at least about the truck :-) ) since.

The seatbelt tightened no matter who was in it or what position.

Don't about the date code, doesn't follow the others I've seen on Ford stuff.
As for the ratchet feature, it's not a defect, it's designed that way.
The ratchet function is a feature designed into the shoulder harnesses. It is so that if you need to put a child safety seat in the belt will stay tight. The ratchet is activated by pulling the strap all the way out and as you feed it back in, the ratchet will not let it go out until it is fully recoiled.
Yes, sometimes it is a pain to deal with, like when I pull the strap out to wrap around my invalid grandmother. Sometimes I pull it too far out and it goes into ratchet mode. I just have to let it coil in and then try again.

Paul the old belt tightened regardless of the position. I fully understand the safety feature and it was not the problom. Regardless it is fixed now and was looking for info on the date code b/c it was "replaced" by the dealer and I had the same problom. The truck was in for 20 min. I stayed with it for 10min. and saw them take off the dealer stickers. They started buffing it and I walked away to look at the mustangs. 10 min. is too quick to replace the seatbelt. Problom persisted and they would not look at it again. So I bought a new one, installed it and the problom is gone. So I was trying to find out if it was the origional.

Not sure about the date code, you're going to have a tough time tracking that one down. But hate to say it, you paid too much for that seat belt! Tousley would have sold you one for under $140.

These seat belts suck. My last 5 F Series seat belts sucked. They lock and wont let you lean forward. I got extenders and just making them longer seems to make them better. AND believe it or not they were free. The dealer should get you 2 for free. I think its a safety thing.

Yep, the ol seat belt extenders. Gave 'em away for 22 years. They were about the only thing people could remember the name of, beside the 710 caps.

The belt ended up on warrenty. I got a full credit. The dealers prices are all over. I just had them price tires they were $400 higher then anyone else. They must have figured the cost of the seatbelt into the tire price lol.
