3 months ago I was pulling my injectors so I could have them pop tested...etc...to see if any were bad or going bad. An old man from down the street was walking up, the closer he got the more diesel smell I got. He reeked of it...Anyway, he asked...what you doing? I told him...He said...that's all well and good, but as long as the springs and needles are good you don't need to buy new ones...I said HUH!...So he took em and popped em for me...Good deal...He said they were just dirty and leaked some...So I said time for new ones huh? He said no...Just put em back in and burn some 2 cycle oil for awhile and it will fix you right up...I said HUH?...Long story short...I burned one ounce of Supertech 2 cycle oil TWC-3 or something like that till the gallon was gone...Results....First time I poured it in my tank at fill-up, it wasn't long before my engine got way quiter and seemed to run better. As time and more 2 cycle at fill-ups...things kept getting better...Faster starts, more power, lots less noise, and almost no smoke anymore...
Well, I just took my injectors back out to check em and put em right back in, with new coppers of course...They was oily, but way way cleaner than three months back...Well most of you know I don't believe in additives, but this made a believer outta me...I will burn that stuff as long as I can get it...I just hope it don't damage something else in the long run...That old man says that stuff is not the best but dang near it and cheap compared to the name brand stuff and that he never leaves home without it...
Not sure on the ratio your explaining.
One once of 2cycle went in to what?
Did you put one ounce in your tank, at fill up?, or did you put one ounce in a "gallon" of fuel? and add some at fill up's
If so, how much did you add, the whole gallon?
My guess is, you put 1 ounce in a gallon, then added the gallon at every fill up, is this correct?

And thanks for the tip.
What I did was only use my rear tank...just to be sure I had my front tank if the rear got plugged or something from the oil. So, whenever I filled the rear tank...about 16 or 17 gallons of diesel...I would pour in an estimated 3/4 of a quart of 2 cycle oil...I guess that makes about 22 oz. per 17 gallons or real close to that...or about...according to my handy dandy cheap hand held calculator...1 1/4 oz per gallon...that is if I pushed the right buttons...
I gotta tell you tho...I really was amazed...that old man told me eventually the little spring inside will wear out as well as maybe the needle...he said most people just buy new ones, but as long as the body doesn't get screwed up somehow and you keep the injectors clean...and you can't keep em from leaking anymore...all they ever did was replace and or shim the springs and replace the needle and go on down the road. He said sometimes the needle would wear out the whole they are in from all the work they do, but not very often...he says the needle is a hair softer than the body, so thats all they ever did unless they had to replace the whole injector. If they had to replace a whole injector or two or three they always tried to make sure the older injectors matched the pop pressure of a new one...I guess that means rebuilding the old ones...
Anyway...about 1 1/4 oz per gallon did wonders for mine...

Yeah it worked out to about 1 1/4 oz per gallon...will tell more what the old man told me a little later...got company...just pulled up in the driveway
I've run about an ounce of two-stroke per gallon diesel and it seemed to help a little bit with mileage as well.
I'd believe some of that, but not all. Maybe the needles will wear faster than the nozzles and keep every thing in check, just have to re-shim the springs every now and then to keep the pressure up. I keep wanting to build my own tester so I can play with this sometime.
Thanks, BC, I don't see where this could hurt anything,
I'm going to give it a shot, these old timer's know their stuff.
I'm 57 years old and really didn't know that much about diesels per say...the old man that told me all this is 89 years old. An old oilfield worker and said diesel engines of all kinds is mostly what he's been around and worked on. He's a bona-fide diesel nut I'm tellin ya...He was telling me about how they used to start diesels with high pressure air...called em air starters...Never heard of it, but I wasn't going to call him a liar...He just might turn out to be a good source of advice on lots of diesel aspects...like repairs...troubleshootin and the like..
Air starters aren't around much anymore.....with good reason. At least with batteries a set of booster cables will get you going again. A portable air hose is a bit of an issue though after those first few tries don't do it!!

i gotta hear this one.
or what happens lol?
oh never mind i read it wrong haha.i thought you meant something really nasty could happen if the first few tries didn't work and you kept trying, instead of just running out air lmao.

Ya, this fella is a good friend to have close by.
Next time you chat with him, ask him how he would "time" an IP.
