I have got my 52 8RT engine back from the rebuilder and I am reassembling the bolt on bits before putting it back into the truck. However an issue has arisen with the intake manifold.
I have 19 threaded holes in the block and a corresponding number of holes in the intake manifold, however my manual shows 20 bolts, and just to confuse the issue more the stainless steel intake bolt set I ordered only has 16! Also a number of the new stainless bolts seem to bottom out before they tighten down on the manifold.
What am I missing?
I ususally take pics of everything before I remove them, but I seem to have neglected to this time.
Sounds to me like you received the wrong set. Also if there supposed to be correct they wouldn't bottom out.
I looked at you pics and see that either you don't have the Aluminum Intake or you have painted it.
Where in Ontario are you?
I'm located near Rice lake.
Yes I do have the aluminum intake, the one in the pic is my other (spare) flattie. It is aluminum as well only painted.
I'm going to compare the length of the new versus the old, when I get some time and if not the right length I will call the supplier.
Here are some pics of the rebuilt engine.
Good looing engine you can get those bolts at your local hardware I believe they are 5/16.
Put the heads of the bolts on the grinder and erase the embosed on the tops as they were not marked, and there were also very thin flat washers to go under the heads of the bolts so you wouldn't mark the manifold.
By the way thart is the correct manifold for that engine
