Navistar 6L Powerstroke problems
Navistar 6L Powerstroke problems
howdy to all. I've been back after long delay with Navystar issues.
Long story short how the problem appeared.
Truck was purchased used a half of year ago. History is unknown.
last week engine start working rought. and I got Cyl 3 missfire code. To change injector was easy. And after that We decided to change oil. Old was so black! after oil change secondary oil pressure low code appered. I used flush oil (very thin). Engine runs really well on flush oil, but not on 5w30 ore 10W40.
I used to work on Cat 3126 engine, but this one is different.
So we disassemblied high pressure system and took alll apart. The problem is that all parts look good and clear and I do not really understand how to inspect all this stuff

If it runs well on the flush oil and not reg oil then maybe something has stopped up . How thin is the flush oil ? Maybe run it a little while on the flush oil IDK . Something tells me the problem is in the injectors and not hpop system .
It would have really made sense to try and figure out what you were chasing instead of trying to tear the top half of the motor apart to look for something obviously wrong....
How did the screen look on the IPR? Any codes? Fuel filters all good? OEM oil filters and fuel filters...Right? Not cheap autozone ones.....

What year is the truck? How many miles are on it? And what is the date of the engine build ( located on the FICM module on the driverside valve cover, needed for buying the correct engine parts). Since you have it torn down as far as you have there are some common failure points that can be addressed while you are there. The main one i can think of is replacing the oil cooler and i know there are other things but i dont have the experience to tell you what they are.
X2 what 2006powerstroke90 said, a little trouble shooting before you took it apart would have helped these guys diagnose your problem.

There is a whole list of things that can make these trucks not run right. There are also a few different things that can affect the high pressure oil system. Thats why it is so important that some trouble shooting be done before it is taken apart, because it helps point you in the right direction instead of opening things up in the hopes you will find the smoking gun. But there is a ton of great info in the tech folder listed at the top of the forum that will go a long way in helping you figure things out. Sorry im not more help but i am not qualified to try and get into specifics as i am a newbie to the powerstroke world.
When its in an International its a vt365. Your engine is in a Ford so it is refered to as a 6.0 liter. As for your concern alittle more info as to what diagnostics steps you took before you tore the engine apart would help.
The only thing I understand now, HP oil pump cant suck oil in and I try to find place where something blocks oil
