BTS is $3200.00 for just the trans that does not include shipping.
Monster is $2584 and includes the trans, torque converter, and shipping, and it comes with a 3 year warranty.
I think the BTS is probably the way to go for a 1000 ft lb powerstroke since these are the only transmissions they build. They seem to know what they are doing. But my truck has a stock 5.4 gas engine I just need a transmission that will hold up to towing 3000 lbs every day.
I would probably have $4000 or more in a BTS by the time I bought there torque converter and had it shipped.

Those BTS numbers sound about right.
But there is a certain value to the builder daring you to break it and guaranteeing to fix it if you do.
please consider a valve-body upgrade like a Transgo Tugger II kit included in your Monster rebuid trans
I think BTS includes an improved valve body design

did you check your feed bolts in your trans yet? They are know to come loose or fall out and cause a no forward gears or a loss of one or more forward gears....

.
I'm wondering what conditions caused the trans to fail with such a light load. Seriously, with only 3K behind you, that truck shouldn't even bat an eye.
My opinion .... worth the price you pay ... any stock reman would be more than adequate. Not sure how many miles you had on the trans before it failed, but you should be able to get at least that much again out of just a stock reman.

I agree I would start there. It is a common problem and it is offen over looked.
WoodRacing But if you go to get a reman or have it rebuild don't use a local builder because 9 out of 10 don't have a clue on what makes a 4R100 work more or less what the weak links are in them. So if you don't want to drop the coin on a JW or BTS the only other trans I would use is the Ford reman HD. And Monster trans I don't know if they do the center support mod or if they do some of the other modds needed in a 4R100. I think they just reman to stock which isn't good.
